Tour Itinerary
Day 1: Fes – Midlet – Ziz Valley – Erfoud – Rissani – Merzouga desert
Our private Morocco tour from Fez starts traveling south via Midelt and our first stop will be Ifrane, named as “the Switzerland of Morocco”. We stop at the cedar forest to see Barbarian apes. We will continue to Midelt, passing Ziz Valley, and driving through few Berber villages. We will visit Erfoud, the capital of fossils, then Rissani. After we arrive in Merzouga where we stay in a desert riad/hotel for this night.
Day 2: Merzouga desert camel trek and overnight in Merzouga camp
After breakfast, we will explore the desert area by 4×4 vehicles. We will visit Khamlia village where we meet local Gnawa people and we will learn about their famous music. Then we continue our private Morocco tour by visiting Nomad families living in the desert. We will visit also the city of Rissani – a fortified village. Here we explore a traditional souk where locals selling spices, vegetables, and clothes. Then we drive back to the Merzouga and in the afternoon, we will ride camels to the desert. We will be guided by an experienced camel guide to exploring the highest sand dunes in Morocco. After we reach desert camp we will enjoy dinner at a campfire with Berber music and we stay overnight in desert camp. We may walk to the high dune to watch the sunset over the dunes.
Day 3: Merzouga desert – Rissani – Todra gorges – Dades gorges
Early in the morning, we will watch the sunrise in the desert of Merzouga. Then we ride camels back to the village of Merzouga and after breakfast, we leave for Rissani. We drive towards Tinghir, and then we explore Todra gorges which is the highest, narrowest gorges in Morocco. Here we may hike within the amazing valley and after lunch, we will continue our private Morocco tour passing the Dades valley. Here we stay in Dades gorges in a traditional local riad/hotel with dinner and breakfast.
Day 4: Dades gorges – Ouarzazatte – Ait Benhaddou – Marrakech
Today we travel through the Dades valley towards Ouarzazate passing the route of the 1000’s Kasbahs. We will stop at Kalaat Mgouna which is the center of Rose's valley. Here we may purchase the rosewater, which is a local famous product made from roses. We will visit the Ouarzazate movie studio, and also the local kasbah in the city. We continue to the Kasbah of Ait Benhaddou, built by one of the last Berber chieftains. Our trip continues passing Tizi n’Tichka mountain pass at 2260 m. Then we arrive in Marrakech where our private Morocco tour ends.
